Leah R. Abrams

Population Health & Aging Researcher

Hello, nice to meet you!

I am a population health and aging researcher in the Department of Community Health at Tufts University. I joined Tufts as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2022, following a postdoctoral fellowship at the Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies. My research and teaching interests include social epidemiology, health policy, health equity, population aging, work/retirement, mental health, and chronic disease mortality. More specifically, I study the complex relationships between work and health in mid- and late-life, with special attention to inequities by race and socioeconomic status. My research has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, International Journal of Epidemiology, The Gerontologist, and Social Science & Medicine. I hold an MPH in Epidemiology and a PhD in Health Services Organization and Policy from the University of Michigan School of Public Health.
